Sliding scale: how I price

This blog is about how my services are priced. You could find it helpful if you are thinking of working with me.

 I am writing this because I not only want to provide full transparency over my pricing but also to explain why I use sliding scale pricing that allows people and organisations in different financial circumstances the opportunity to benefit from my services. The tables at the start explain the fees that I charge for consulting and coaching. I then go on to explain the thinking behind these and how you pick the price that is right for you.

Why do I use sliding scale pricing?

Sliding scale pricing is a way for the same product or services to be obtained at multiple price points dependent on the circumstances of the provider. Given that I expect to be working with some people in well-funded commercial businesses, others in the charitable sector and others at start-up or early stages, where their financial positions can be tight, it only seems right that some people do not have to pay as much as others.  

The idea is that those paying standard rates, who are not significantly financially constrained, are providing the opportunity for those who have financial need to obtain my services. I should emphasise that I try to work only with clients who are providing some sort of worthwhile social purpose.  

I was first introduced to the rationale for this type of pricing through this blog that was sent to me by one of my clients. It struck a chord.  

How does sliding scale pricing work at Bellevue Partners?

If you want to work with me, using the guidance below, work out which of the different price points fits your circumstances. You then tell me which this is and I work to that price.

There is a limit to how much of my time I can afford to spend on the services priced below the standard rate so I allocate my working hours as follows:
