For Individuals:
Coaching and Mentoring

When life is busy, with the urgent getting in the way of the important, it can be hard to find the time to reflect, learn and move forward positively.

But the effort to do this is invariably worthwhile.

Taking time to reflect on your situation, to identify what you are trying to achieve and how to get there, then reviewing whether or not you are on track is an effective way of keeping things in balance and avoid getting stuck in a negative place.

Coaching is where we partner in a thought-provoking process that will support your reflections and equip you to meet your challenges.

In so doing you will boost your personal fulfilment and develop your potential.

A principle of coaching is that you, the client, have the knowledge to identify the challenges that you face and, importantly, the solutions to meet them.

The role of the coach is to listen and, through use of questions and other techniques, to help you shift your mindset so that you see things clearly and honestly, before moving forward to create the right solutions.

Mentoring is a close relation of coaching. Like coaching, it is a partnership created through a series of conversations, but a mentor has a wider remit than a coach.

As well as using the coaching techniques outlined above, the mentor can provide guidance and insight by making connections and sharing experiences.

Mentoring is best suited to those who maybe clear about the challenges they face, but are looking for some experienced support to work out the steps needed to move forward.

3 steps to Personal Development through Coaching or Mentoring

  1. Free chemistry call

It is vital that you feel a good connection with your coach or mentor. They have to be someone that you can relate to.

So in our first conversation, we can either meet face-to-face or online to decide whether I am someone with whom you click. If not, no problem - I will try to help you on your way.

If we hit it off and you want to go ahead, we will move onto discussing the programme that will best suit you.

  2. Development programme

These are the core conversations that will form your coaching or mentoring experience.

All conversations will be completely confidential.

They can take place face-to-face or online. Wherever they are, they should be in an environment where you cannot be disturbed and have the space for reflection.

Typical sessions will usually last between 1 and 2 hours, taking place about once a month.
A coaching or mentoring programme will usually last somewhere between 6 and 12 months.

  3. Go for a walk
Walking is good for your body and good for your mind.

Walking and talking with someone is a great way to dig deep into subjects where the freedom of the great outdoors can calm you and let your mind roam free.
So, once in a while, and if you are able, going for a walk will provide the perfect background for a rewarding session.

I will sort out the route and the food. All you have to do is turn up with your walking boots.
